Riding with Dan & Dylan, Weekend of March 14, 2009
Friday, March 13, 2009. Weather was 34 degrees and sunny.
We took these pictures of the trails on our way up today. The trails still looked pretty good, but the snow was crusty, so we did not ride.

Saturday, March 14, 2009. Weather was 20 degrees and overcast, turning sunny and 50's.
When we got home from our snowmobile club meeting, where we found out the trails will be closing Monday, we figured it was now or never for our last ride of the year. The snow was getting a little softer from the sun, so we took the Bonita Creek trail off the Pond to the RR grade. We headed north on the grade and stopped at the small connector trail to take these pictures (click to enlarge):

We went down the connector trail to 2112, and we were surprised at how nice the trails still were in a lot of places. It's really too bad we couldn't have gotten that snow last Sunday- our trail base is so good in most places, we could have had one last great week of riding. We took some pictures on the connector trail and on 2112 (click to enlarge):

We rode down 2112 and stopped where the tunnel trail starts. We talked about riding down to visit Rocky & Sally at Pine Grove, but Dylan reminded me they are on Spring Break in Florida. So we turned around and headed back east on 2112, turning off on the Doze Inn trail. This trail was pretty much like the rest- decent in some places, with some brown and bare spots. We stopped for a visit with Larry & Della, then brought the sleds home across the lake. We rode 17 miles today, and now our riding season is over. I rode 1810 miles this year, and Dylan's total is about 800 more than that. We would like to thank our Trail Boss Dan Huth, Groomer Boss Keith Uhlenbrauck, and the Groomer Boys for an excellent job again this year. Our trails once again stood out as the best of the best.
Don't forget- the Chute Pond Annual Banquet is Saturday, April 4th. Tickets are still available. Live music, great food, raffles, door prizes, and fun! Call Deb to get yours today!
Remember- it's March- that means it's bonus time. Ride 'em, or put 'em away!
See you on the trails,
Dan & Dylan
